TOBY PRICE CONTINUING TO PUSH DESPITE WRIST INJURY

Australia’s Toby Price has admitted he’ll have to push through the pain barrier during this year’s Dakar rally, as he continues to contend with a wrist injury he suffered last month. The 2016 champion completed stage one in sixth position, just over three minutes off the lead pace. Speaking before he set off, Price knew the 2019 event was going to be unique.

TOBY PRICE LEADS AFTER DAY 2 OF ABU DHABI DESERT CHALLENGE

The Hunter’s Toby Price has grabbed an early lead, finishing on top at the end of day two at the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge. The 2016 champion showed he’s fully recovered from a horror run of injuries to win the stage by just under three minutes, ahead of defending champion Sam Sunderland and reigning Dakar Rally winner Matthias Walkner of Austria. In a twist for a cross country event, the race started inside a stadium.

PRICE WINS STAGE 11 AT THE DAKAR RALLY

The Hunter’s Toby Price is back on track at the Dakar Rally, winning Stage 11 in Argentina. The Australian admits he rode conservatively during week one, but it’s time to be aggressive. “Yeah kind of had to push a little bit today and claw a little bit back, it’s cool to get a stage win which I hadn’t done this year so far.” Price is third overall, 39 minutes off the lead.

TOBY PRICE SIXTH OVERALL AT DAKAR RALLY

A mixed day for the Hunter’s Toby Price on stage four of the Dakar rally. Following a group start on the beach in Peru, Price lost ground on the bike division leaders in the 100-kilometre stretch through the dunes. But when his five minute penalty from stage three was rescinded by officials, he moved up to sixth overall. The man everyone was chasing, defending champion Sam Sunderland, crashed out… and needed to be evacuated by helicopter because of a back injury.

MIXED DAY FOR TOBY PRICE AT DAKAR RALLY

A missed opportunity for the Hunter’s Toby Price at the Dakar rally. He finished the latest stage in third, before being handed a five-minute penalty, relegating him to 11th. Price is now ninth overall, 13 minutes off the leader, Englishman Sam Sunderland. It was a day of drama – Catalonian driver Nani Roma suffered head injuries in a nasty rollover.

PRICE POSITIVE ABOUT RECOVERY

Some great news for the Hunter’s Toby Price, now back on the bike after the horrifying crash that ended his Dakar Rally title defence. Price took to social media saying he feels “half decent” and was positive about his recovery. In January he broke his femur in four places during stage four of this year’s event, last year he became the first Australian to ever claim the gruelling endurance race.

PROMISING PERFORMANCE FOR PRICE IN STADIUM SUPERTRUCKS

Redhead’s Charlotte Poynting sits mid-table, following the opening four races of the Aussie Racing Car season. She avoided some early trouble in race four, to eventually move into 14th. Fellow Hunter competitor Toby Price finished higher up the leaderboard during a dramatic weekend in the Stadium Supertrucks. He was bumped early in race two, and a few laps later, lost his bonnet. The former Dakar rally champion recovered to grab second, but couldn’t manage as high in race three.
