A man has been killed after his unit exploded in Ballina overnight.
Emergency services were called to the Owen Street address shortly after 7.30pm, to find two second story units engulfed in flames.
Residents of the block were evacuated to a sporting field across the road, as fire and rescue crews tried to stop the fire from spreading to adjoining homes.
A deceased male was found near the rear door of one of the units, and is yet to be formally identified.
Police do not believe the fire is suspicious, however investigations are continuing into the cause of the explosion.
