UPDATED: TEEN GIRL KILLED AT EDGEWORTH

Glendale Technology High School has released a statement, after one its students was hit and killed by a car this morning.

“The school extends its deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Courtney Plain.

“Courtney was a very popular student with her peers and staff,” it said.

The 16-year-old was crossing Main Road at Edgeworth at around 8:30 this morning, when she was hit by a Toyota Prado.

She was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to John Hunter Hospital where she later passed away.

A woman driving the four-wheel drive was not injured, but was taken to Belmont Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.

The school has made counseling available to students.
