WATER BECOMING INCREASINGLY SCARCE
There are fears for Tamworth’s water supply, with Chaffey Dam’s storage capacity sitting below 40 per cent.
With no substantial rain forecasted for the rest of the year, Tamworth Regional Council is desperate to promote a water-wise message to residents.
If dam levels drop below 35 per cent, which is expected within the next month, level three water restrictions will come into play.
Residents won’t be able to use hoses or sprinklers, and sporting fields can’t be watered.
In a bid to educate locals, council will roll out a six month ‘Let’s Stretch Our Water’ campaign.
