COUNCIL CRITICISED FOR NOT ADVERTISING CRUISE-SHIP TERMINAL INFO SESSION

Anti-cruise ship terminal campaigners say a council organised information session on the proposed project for the Broadwater wasn’t properly advertised.

They still turned up in droves though – to make sure their voices were heard.

  1. Tom Tate. It’s a shame that an exceptional place like the Gold Coast couldn’t do better.

  2. It’s a shame Tom Tate and the Gold Coast City Council have to employ these childish tactics. What they don’t realise is that we, the people of the Gold Coast (who are electors, too), aren’t fooled by their feeble excuses.. Remember, Tom Tate, you were elected….and it may only be for one term if these antics carry on,

  3. Mr Tate, the public that were present only found out about the meeting due to other members of the publics diligence and hard work, not Councils diligence and hard work for the job of public consultation, a requirement of Council! Will you pay them for doing Council ‘s job.

  4. Tom Tate’s election campaign dwarfed all others in size and cost. As far as I’m concerned he bought himself the election. Now he’s doing what all those with excessive wealth and power do. What he wants.

  5. The very first moment i heard Tom Tate speak & say he was running for Mayor i just took an instant disliking to him, a gut feeling and this is one of the many, many reasons why. I heard nothing about this information session on the proposed project for the Broadwater. That sly look on his face when interviewed speaks volumes. There will be no Cruise Ship Terminal or development of Wavebreak Island Mr Tate. You will see and feel the power of the people.

  6. All those casino bosses and cruise line executives waiting to get their paws on our free spaces must be starting to get a little impatient with your handling of this Tom. I mean how hard could it be if you have such a clear mandate?

Police? Seriously…… bullet proof vests and side arms at a community consultation meeting! They looked nearly as embarrassed as the staff you sent to handle us. They looked a little nervous of the older woman with the Zimmer frame though.

Congratulations to the council staff who had to front up today. You all deserve a pay rise for having infinitely more spine than your boss. You were genuinely nice people, not unlike the violent activists sent to thwart you.

  7. Seriously, I find it disgusting that a person with a large amount of property investment on the gold coast is allowed to make decisions on the sale of public land for the area or even more control the council about these issues! Isnt that a conflict of interest, or worse a case of insider trading? and to be teaming up with Campbell Newman for backing, its not like C.N has ever been accused of anything like that 😉 Hopefully neither of these candidates get a chance at making a second term!! Leave the Spit how it has always been and listen to what the people are saying councilers.

  8. This is disgusting , and a crying shame , why would you want to put a casino in such a vital part of our free land on the gold coast , not only will you destroy a whole ecosystem , but you are stealing from the people of the gold coast , Gambling ruins families , the gold coast already has a casino within a 15-20min drive from this location (in the crazy traffic already here because of roadworks ) . the investors are not even gold coasters so the money will be leaving the gold coast , its not a smart idea , infact its dam stupid , and proves that you guys are greedy , and dont look out for the gold coast at all , and only want to fill your pockets while you destroy our back yard , im disgusted and ashamed to call the gold coast home at the movement , ill never vote for you again your a crook . stop the terminal , its not beneficial at all , protect the little beauty you have left here , this makes me so angry ,,,

  9. As Ken Brown would say “DON’T DESTROY WHAT YOU CAME TO ENJOY”
Tom Tate give it a break!
