PROTESTS CONTINUE IN THE NORTH WEST

Protests against mining activity in the North West continued today, with a group of activists gathering at the Idemitsu (ID-E-MI-TSU) Boggabri Coal mine to voice their concerns about impacts on the Leard State Forest.

The protestors say the expansion of the mine would destroy the koala habitat, as well as other native species.

All trucks in and out of one entrance to the mine were brought to a stop.

Yesterday, 50 people gathered at the Whitehaven coal Boggabri office to protest against the Maules Creek mine.
