POLICE SEARCHING FOR CESSNOCK JAIL ESCAPEE

Benjamin Scott 290813Police are searching for a man who escaped from the Cessnock Correctional Complex this morning.

Benjamin Wayne Scott, aged 31, left a minimum security section of the facility just before 10am.

Officers from Central Hunter Local Area Command are using a Dog Unit to canvass the area.

The inmate was serving a 12 month sentence for assault, robbery and driving offences, his nine month non-parole period is due to expire in January.

He’s described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 170cm to 180cm tall, with medium build, brown hair and a fair complexion. He has a tattoo of the name ‘Jordan’ on his inner right forearm.

When he escaped he was wearing his prison greens.

Members of the public who see Benjamin Scott are advised not to approach him but to contact Triple Zero ‘000’ immediately.
