NEW ADDITION TO NEWCASTLE SKY LINE

IMG_0385

There is a new addition to the Newcastle skyline – a 55 metre high crane is towering over the tax office and city council buildings as construction of the $100-million courthouse development progresses.

Work on the basement level is well underway and Damon Lazarus from John Holland says works are ahead of schedule.

“We’re basically coming out of the ground. We’re doing the basement slab. For a while now we’ve been doing installation of piles. ”

It’s taken two days to erect the crane which will start operating on Wednesday.

60 workers are on the site, but that will more than double in the future with work set to be complete by late next year.
