POLICE INVESTIGATE IDENTICAL MOBILE PHONE THEFTS

policelightsTwo men had their mobile phones stolen by the same offenders within hours of each other yesterday in Newcastle.

A man was walking in Cooks Hill at around 3 o’clock yesterday morning when a car pulled up next to him.

A female passenger asked if she could use his mobile phone to call her mother, and once it was handed over the driver sped off.

The victim kept hanging onto the window for about 100 metres before letting go and suffered minor bruising and scratches.

Less than 4 hours later the same offenders approached another man standing near Wests Leagues Club at Lambton, and again took the man’s phone before speeding off.

The vehicle is described as a 90s model dark green Laser or Barina.

The female is described as Caucasian, mid-20s, with short dark hair and a thin build. The driver is described as an aboriginal female.
