Tamworth police have commended driver behaviour throughout the Oxley Local Area Command over the long weekend.
More than 500 random breath tests were conduced, with only one low-range drink-driving offence recorded.
But police say speeding is still a concern, with three people clocked at more than 130-kilometres an hour on the New England and Kamilaroi Highways.
“Obviously we’d like people to slow down, people driving at 130 kilometres per hour do present a risk not just to themselves but to other people on the road, if something goes wrong at that speed, it goes wrong pretty seriously.”
