IPART APPROVES GUNNEDAH RATE INCREASE

The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal has approved Gunnedah Shire Council’s proposed rate increase of 26.7 per cent over the next four years.

It’ll generate an extra $5.8-million for council.

Average residential rates are expected to increase by between $26 and $53 in the next financial year, with total increases of between $118 and $238.

Council applied for the increase to improve its financial position and fund loans to pay for road works and maintenance.
