Coolangatta’s Jackson Close has taken out the Queensland Stand Up Paddle boarding Surf title by just over half a point at Tugun this afternoon.
The lead yo-yoed between the finalists at first, before the battle came down to Close and Sunshine Beach’s Keahi De Aboitiz.
An impressive air not quite enough for the visitor to snatch victory.
“It’s always close between Keahi and I, he’s always doing the airs and I play catch up so glad to beat him, makes me feel good.”
Tugun’s Shakira Westrop dominated the women’s final – her closest competitor nine points behind her.
Both will join all four male finalists in the Australian Titles later this year.
