FLOOD WATCH IN HUNTER

A flood watch for minor to moderate flooding has been issued for parts of the Hunter with possible heavy rain hitting the Hunter region tonight.

A low pressure trough and associated cold front is forecast to move across eastern NSW during Friday.

There is a greater than 75% chance that flooding as well as local flash flooding will develop during Friday night in the Hunter Valley, including the Paterson and Williams
Rivers and at Scone, with minor to moderate flooding.

Landowners and farmers adjacent to the Hunter, Paterson and Williams Rivers and their tributaries should watch the weather and be ready to move livestock, pumps and
other equipment away from rising waters.

Yesterday afternoon the Hunter River at Maitland peaked at 6.0 metres but all river have now fallen below minor flood levels.
