  1. the reason a lot of people are not getting behind these kind of things is because when ever someone does a story on a skatepark its like the only people who go there are skaters , so my complaint is i dont think any of you have driven past a skatepark lately and taken a good look , because if you had you wouldve noticed that every skatepark is full of scooter riders with only a few skaters at each, as a father of 2 scooter riders i am sick of the descrimination shown towards scooter riders , its time the media and general public start acknowledging them, the pro riders spend endless hours perfecting tricks and the goldcoast has produced some of the best riders in the world eg robbie menzies just got a 3rd in the world finals in england that shouldve been front page news , and another thing skaters make out like there mr nice guys you should see the bullying they do to the young kids on a daily basis , i have seen it first hand on numerous occasions, it would just be nice to see a tv station show some interest and get behind a sport that would have to be the fastest growing sport in australia with the goldcoast having a very large number of riders

  2. Great article, GCCC seems to have their head screwed on. Brisbane CC should take note. @ Brynn Jones – I hope you’ve taught your kids the etiquette of using a skatepark. As a regular visitor, the scooters in general, lack the concept of taking turns and not being in the way, this causes great frustration amongst the skateboarders.

  3. To the first comment lol you funny buddy there is a reason it’s a SKATEpark not scooter but aswell scooter is just a faze that will die out soon

  4. The media and general public do accept scooters. Nobody pays attention to them however because it’s a children’s toy like a pogo stick or a tricycle. Skateboarding is a very respected, difficult, unique art form that is for all ages.

  5. Scooter are a passing FAD. like rollerblades before them. Skateboarding has been around since the 60’s and will be around for decades to come. unlike scooters, which will fade out into a new fad, and will just die leaving people saying… “remember those stupid things”

  6. Put one next to McDonalds in front of the bp on gooding drif massively huge grass bit that’s not doing anything exept people getting rapped in There and grass growing over a meter high………. Now about the scooters they think the are top s*** because there part of the fad usually they just get in other people way and they are way to easy to ride that is why people don’t care when they win a compition
