A Northern Rivers couple are pushing ahead with their plans to put a KFC in Byron Bay.
They’ve signed a 10-year lease on a store in the Byron Plaza which was vacated earlier this year.
A development application will be lodged in the coming weeks – and will go on public exibition in January.
“We’ll be urging everybody to put a submission in… at the moment the period is only for about 20 days so we’ll be trying to move to get that extended”
Byron Mayor Simon Richardson believes like the Dan Murphy’s application, the community will oppose the plan.
“We’ve spent 30 years trying to keep some community spirit in tack and to try keep our point of difference to other areas”.
