A 25-year-old man is being treated in John Hunter Hospital, after shots were fired in Muswellbrook overnight.
Police responded to the incident on Anzac Parade at about 10.30pm, and found damage to a house and a car in the street.
About six hours later, the injured man was discovered in Brook Street and treated by paramedics.
He is in a stable condition, but it refusing to assist police in their inquiries.
