SAYING NO TO COAL SEAM GAS

Anti coal seam gas protestors on the Central Coast have urged local councils to lobby the state government over proposed exploration in the area.

The peaceful demonstration was also about talking to the public about the controversial mining.

  1. Chris, Chris, Chris…ignorance must be bliss <3 These multi conglomerate corporations have another thing coming if they believe they will get away with poisoning our water and destroying our land. We are prepared to take this all the way 🙂 One love

  2. Cant believe people winge about mining when they bludge off the system in some way or another, and the money they recieve as benefits actually comes from the miners tax! Nice to have a lifestyle, but maybe they should think about who pays for it? and maybe they need to look into all the regulations required to actually mine!!! And all the families they will put out of work in the future! Then where will their benefits come from??? These people need to get a proper job, and then the government will have more money to spend on the land! Whos future are they really thinking of, there will be no future if people dont go out and work!

  3. Kylie: For your information, your (very typical) assumption that our group was a bunch of bludgers couldn’t be further from the truth. Amongst the people in this story there is not a single bludger. (said calmly) You say we should get a “proper job”….. Could you explain what a “proper job” is please? by your standards? In the story I can see youth and community workers that make a huge difference in helping disenfranchised and troubled youth and others to find EMPLOYMENT, teachers, a retired school counsellor, students, small business owners, a fella that works in a music shop, a yoga teacher and professional musicians.

  4. @Kylie, what a shame you have allowed ignorance to take up a huge space in your brain! It is ignorance like this is leading to the rapid destruction of our world. If you think it is not destructing, then you must live under a rock! Our drinking water safety is already debatable, with fracking it will most certainly be toxic! Do your own research and speak with facts before judge. To judge those of us peaceful activists without even knowing a thing about us, and to automatically assume we are dole bludgers, is just being a know it all fool! Those of us that took part in caring about our community, our town, our families, were a representation of all walks of life and professions. Not ONE person there was a dole bludger.
    SHAME, SHAME, SHAME! ☮❤~

  5. The amount of money going into this & other coal seam gas projects in NSW should be going into solar & wind projects that will also have potential for employment & are a much more environmentally friendly and longer term solution to our energy needs.
The costs to the environment far outway the short term gain of mining natural gas. Is 450 years of gas supply worth 10’s of 1000’s of years of destruction to our natural environment that could lead to the extinction of mankind? We call ourselves a sophisticated & technologically advanced society. Untill we put the ground we stand on before our desires for immediate luxuries we are less than a primitive ignorant people.

  6. TIME TO STOP BEING MONKEYS GUYS..

    WE’RE ALL MONKEYS:

If you start with a cage containing five monkeys and inside the cage, hang a banana on a string from the top and then you place a set of stairs under the banana, before long a monkey will go to the stairs and climb toward the banana.

As soon as he touches the stairs, you spray all the other monkeys with cold water.

After a while another monkey makes an attempt with same result…all the other monkeys are sprayed with cold water. Pretty soon when another monkey tries to climb the stairs, the other monkeys will try to prevent it.

Now, put the cold water away.

Remove one monkey from the cage and replace it with a new one. The new monkey sees the banana and attempts to climb the stairs. To his shock, all of the other monkeys beat the crap out of him. After another attempt and attack, he knows that if he tries to climb the stairs he will be assaulted.

Next, remove another of the original five monkeys, replacing it with a new one.

The newcomer goes to the stairs and is attacked. The previous newcomer takes part in the punishment…… with enthusiasm, because he is now part of the “team”.

Then, replace a third original monkey with a new one, followed by the fourth, then the fifth. Every time the newest monkey takes to the stairs he is attacked.

Now, the monkeys that are beating him up have no idea why they were not permitted to climb the stairs. Neither do they know why they are participating in the beating of the newest monkey.

Finally, having replaced all of the original monkeys, none of the remaining monkeys will have ever been sprayed with cold water. Nevertheless, not one of the monkeys will try to climb the stairway for the banana.

Why, you ask? Because in their minds…that is the way it has
    always been!

  7. This is OUR Planet. How dare a minority of materialistic people destroy it for their own financial purpose. This method has been shown NOT to work, it is money wasted to decrease our lifestyles & health. Living is NOT about money, it is about preserving the land & the people, Luv & Light Shaz Butterfly

Hello Chris Hartcher. Quote – “A “responsible government must take the necessary action to maintain and increase our state’s energy security, which includes the responsible development of a domestic gas industry”. In your thinking Chris, did you consider the governments responsibility to ensure our water and food security. I believe householders would much prefer having clean water running from their taps, and pantries full of food. They can always replace their gas water heater with a solar thermal systems and replace their gas oven too. By the way, BHP has plenty of natural gas and are not happy about all these CSG companies taking away their markets. How about you ring BHP and rectify any gas shortages the Central Coast may be having and then ring the CSG companies and tell them we no longer require their services.

  9. Don’t you know that all pollies in power only listen to big $.
They certainly don’t listen to common sense.
Their only thoughts about the community is how they can be elected.
Just look at the insanity of spending hundreds of millions $ a year to poison the ocean and beaches by pumping sewerage into it when they could turn it into fertiliser, save 100’s of millions $, actually show a profit from the fertiliser to go back into the coffers and make use of a valuable resource instead of polluting OUR world.
You’re arguing with people who do not, or will not understand common sense.
You have to wave a big bag of money in front of them to get their attention as this is all that they can understand or focus on.
Maybe if you pull up to their offices with a Mayne Nicholas truck they might come out in a trance-like state at the thought of money, then you can approach them. Keep waving a $100 note in front of their eyes to maintain their attention.
