The Slim and Joy Appeal has received a welcomed boost of $20,000 from the State Government.
The donation follows a $10,000 cheque from the premier during this year’s Country Music Festival.
The total funds raised now sits at $140,000, leaving just another $40,000 until the target is reached.
The statue will be unveiled at the Tamworth Country Music Festival in 2014.
