FATHER CHARGED OVER CAR ACCIDENT THAT KILLED HIS SON

A man has been charged over a car crash earlier this year that killed his 10-year-old son near Tamworth.

In February a Mitsubishi van crossed to the wrong side of the road on the New England Highway at Tintinhull and collided with a Subaru Forester.

The 54-year-old driver of the van was carrying four passengers, including the 10-year-old boy, who died at the scene.

The other passengers and the 77-year-old male driver and female passenger of the Subaru, were also taken to hospital.

Yesterday afternoon police arrested the driver of the van, charging him with dangerous driving occasioning death, driving in a dangerous manner, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and negligent driving.

He is due to appear in Tamworth Local Court on Monday 6 August 2012.
