WINTERSUN FESTIVAL FINALE

There was a wet end to a week of retro nostalgia at the Wintersun festival in Coffs Harbour today.

Celebrations were forced inside this morning, but that didn’t deter swing-happy fans from enjoying their last jive.

Running over ten days, the festival celebrated the fashion and music of the 40’s and 50’s.

After this year’s success, organisers are hoping the event will return to Coffs Harbour next year.

  1. I thought the organisers said last year they wanted to take it back to Port Macquarie after this year. Oh thats right as Coolangatta found out Wintersun is off to the highest bidder.

  2. Having attended many Wintersun events in the past I believe that the event in Coffs Harbour was extremely well attended and produced.
I think it will go from strength to strength with better advertising from local media prior to the event.
There were some beautiful classic cars and fantastic Rock n Roll bands.
Good to see so many people of all ages outside enjoying memories of the 50’s & 60’s.

  3. Im glad you saw some cars Tony. My estimate was only approximately 300. I should have driven onto Cooly like some others did from our club. They had over 1200 up at Coolangatta. Maybe it was to wet for the locals to get their cars out.

  4. The Wintersun in Coolangatta this year was a terrific event. The new redeveloped Jack Evans Boat Harbour fitted in well and gave a lot more space for the crowds. Twin Towns is building a huge outdoor terrace for the Rock and Rollers. It is going to be open this Christmas and The Bulletin reports are they are investing $20 Million in the renovations and an “alfresco” area.
