A moving short story about a young girl’s extended family has earned her a Prime Minister’s NAIDOC Award.
Katrina Date, who is a year six student at Port Macquarie Primary School, is among just a handful of students in the state to win one of the inaugural awards.
She was presented with a medallion in front of her family and friends at a ceremony at the school today.
Katrina’s story entitled “Harmony” detailed the special relationships she has with various members of her family, many of whom travelled from Cessnock for today’s presentation.
