A quick-thinking north coast bus driver managed to avoid a collision in wet conditions this morning, but still wound up in a ditch.
The 30-seater bus was travelling along Bangalow Road near Lismore when the brakes failed, forcing the driver to run off the road to avoid hitting a car.
Fortunately there were no passengers onboard the bus, which is normally full of seniors on day trips.
