A 36-year-old Newcastle man is in custody after he allegedly stabbed at 27-year-old man in the neck four times last night.
Police allege Dean Price attacked the victim outside West End shoppig centre, just after 11.
Price was arrested shortly after at a nearby hotel and charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
The victim is in a serious but stable condition.
