EMERGENCY LANDING ON BEACH

A light plane has made an emergency landing on Stockton Beach. The pilot brought the plane down after its windscreen blew in on him just after 8am.

Although suffering some minor cuts and abrassions the pilot got off a mayday call before landing on the beach, about five kilometres south of Anna Bay.

The plane’s undercarriage and propeller were damaged in the landing and the aircraft will need to be dismantled before being trucked off the beach.

Emergency services, including the Westpac rescue helicopter were scrambled to the scene however the pilot of the downed plane required only minor first aid.

He said he’d built the plane himself and would take it home for repairs.
