  1. My 13 year old son William almost drowned today swiming between the flag’s at Lennox head, his 12 year old friend was waveing to the lifeguards for help but they were not watching the area of water between the flags close enough to notice the kids waveing franticlly for help, there was about eight guards there at the time!!
I respect that these people give up there time to do this job, as far as I know its a volunteer organization, but if they are there to look out for the safety of swimmers then thats what they need to be doing!! not sitting around chatting with each other which is what I saw after the near tragedy!!
They had a rescue boat out in the water at the time, I feel thay were distracted by watching that going through its training manovers.
I spoke to one of the guards after the event to let them know what had happened, she said sorry for not noticing.
Sorry isnt good enough if my son had drowned, they are there to do a job to save lives, we swim between the flags because we are told that is safe, its only safe if the LIFE GUARD’S ARE DOING THERE JOB!!!!!
