L-PLATER KILLED IN GREEN POINT CAR CRASH

A 19 year-old male learner driver from Yattalunga is dead and his female passenger has received serious injuries, after their car slammed into a tree on Avoca Drive at Green Point.

Police believe the Laser sedan had been travelling at high speed when it left the road.

The impact leaving behind a pile of twisted metal, with one section of the car ending up several metres away from the main body.

Both occupants had to be cut from the wreckage.

The driver couldn’t be revived, while the passenger, who was also aged 19, was taken to Gosford Hospital suffering serious pelvic and leg injuries.

Matty, you meant more to me then anybody else i have ever met. you were my protector, my best friend and like my brother. you done absolutley everything you wanted to do with all the strength and courage you had. your brother Troy and i are going to miss you so much, but we both know that you will always be with us making sure that we do everything that we are meant to. i love you so much matty! please dont ever leave my side. you have been in my life for so long now and just because we are far away from each other now, doesnt mean that we will lose each other. i love you so so so so much and i cant wait to see you again.

  9. matty u are sadly missd by all ur friends and family, but a pack of ciggies was not worth it, u should have left it until the morning. I remember when i was in my crash with leon, carter, ghetto and amy, i remember waking up in the car and u were standing metres up looking in, then i left in the ambulance, just feels odd like u were waching ova and now u gone..well i know my sister will take care of u and leigh and everyone else up there xo p.s ur smile is one neva to 4get

  11. thank god the excessive speed didn’t take an innocent bystander. driving fast isn’t smart, clever, impressive or seductive – it’s just immature, stupid & irresponsible.

  12. While it is very sad what happened, they should both have known better. A learner driver is meant to have an experienced driver beside them, p-platers don’t count. The female was only 19. Not old enough to hold a full lisence. And there is a reason l platers are only meant to go 80!!! They just aren’t experienced in driving or hazards to control them!!
