NINE STAFF TO GO FROM ABC NEWCASTLE

Up to nine jobs will be lost from Newcastle’s ABC radio station, as part of the public broadcaster’s move to offset federal funding cuts.

The station will be downgraded from metro to regional, which will include cuts to local programming.

Carol Duncan’s midday radio show will be among those axed.

It comes as the ABC’s managing director, Mark Scott, today announced 400 jobs will go from its workforce as it adjusts to losing $254-million in federal funding over the next five years.

We’ll bring you the full story in tonight’s NBN News at 6.
