BALI BOY’S FATHER: IT’S BEEN HARROWING

The father of the Lake Macquarie teenager who was convicted after buying marijuana in Bali has broken his silence and told of the family’s ordeal.

The man who wants to remain anonymous, in order to protect his son’s identity, spoke to journalists outside the family’s Morisset Park home on Wednesday morning.

He said it had been a harrowing and expensive experience, and that his son had matured and learnt from his mistake.

“We want people to know he is genuinely sorry and remorseful for his decisions and actions in Bali.”

Since the teen returned home on Monday afternoon, news crews have been camped outside the family’s home, which has been draped in hessian. It’s thought today’s press conference was an attempt by the family to satisfy the media and have them move on.

The father says he just wants life to return to normal, and that a return to school for the teenager is a priority.

The family has also denied that it’s struck a deal to sell the story to the media.
