Hollywood heavyweight and Byron Bay resident, Chris Hemsworth, has joined the chorus of opposition to a resort earmarked for Seven Mile Beach.
In a video posted to his almost 50m Instagram followers, the Thor actor says he stands shoulder-to-shoulder with traditional owners against the development.
The project would see the removal of vegetation to build 27 tourist cabins.
“I fully support traditional custodians to be able to comfortably tell their peoples’ stories, to preserve and protect their homelands, and this proposed development would have a direct impact on these sacred and significant indigenous sites,” Mr Hemsworth said.
NBN News contacted the developer, Planners North, last week and is yet to receive a response.
