SEA TURTLES BACK HOME AFTER STINT IN HOSPITAL

Two green sea-turtles have been given a second lease on life after almost dying from parasites and ingesting plastic.

Jade and Felix have spent the past few months recouperating at Ballina Seabird rescue, but today were declared fit and set free at Lennox Head.

Member for Page Janelle Saffin did the honours.

Carers say the pair are lucky to be alive as many that swallow plastic don’t make it.

“The problem is it clogs our intestines and it produces gas and start to float and one they float they’re really starving to death”

Carers aren’t sure where Jade and Felix will now end up, but at least it looks like they’re both enjoying being back home.
