STRONG INTEREST FOR NEWCASTLE ASIAN CUP GAMES

AFC Asian Cup organisers say there’s been strong interest from Newcastle and the Hunter Valley for the four games to be played in the city early next year.

“Things are going very well – lots of interest from Newcastle fans,” said Alison Hill of the AFC Local Organising Committee.

Venue packs for the games have been on sale for about two weeks and organisers say there are plenty of good seats available when individual tickets go on sale from Monday at midday.

Japan will begin its Asian Cup defence in Newcastle on January 12 against the winner of the Challenge Cup. That team will be determined when The Philippines play Palestine on Friday night. Oman will play Kuwait in Newcastle on January 17, 10 days later the city will host the second semi final. The play-off for third and fourth will be played at Newcastle Stadium on January 30.
