GUILTY VERDICT IN BETTY DIXON COLD CASE

A man charged over the 1982 murder of Elizabeth “Betty” Dixon in the Hunter Valley has today pleaded guilty to being a accessory after the fact.

Rodney Lawrence was due to stand trial but the 65-year-old entered his plea to the alternative charge before proceedings began this morning.

31-year-old Elizabeth Dixon was found slumped over the steering wheel of her car in bushland at Ashtonfield near Maitland, suffering 27 stab wounds.

The crown alleges another person was responsible for her murder.
