John Martin has been elected the Mayor of Singleton, edging out Kylie Stibbard after preferences.
Despite Ms Stibbard leading on primary votes, Mr Martin won on preferences, finishing with just over 100 votes in front.
Mr Martin, 77, has been a long serving member of Singleton Council.
