172KM/H IN A 110KM/H ZONE RECORDED ON THE MID NORTH COAST

A driver has allegedly recorded a speed of 172km/h in a 110km/h zone on the mid north coast, as Operation Stay Alert nears its conclusion.

Police say the 25-year-old Indian national posted the speed on the Pacific Highway in Moorland.

The man was issued a traffic infringement notice for exceed speed over 45km/h, and his driving privileges in NSW were suspended.

A 25-year-old woman in the same vehicle was also issued a traffic infringement notice after she was found not wearing a seatbelt.

In another incident in the north west of NSW, a 28-year-old driver will appear in court, after it was discovered he was disqualified from holding a licence until 2024 when police stopped him at a random breath test on Duri Road in Tamworth.

Operation Stay Alert concludes at 11.59pm tonight, with double demerits in force throughout the period.
