TENTERFIELD BEGINS THE CLEAN-UP

The Tenterfield shire is facing a bill of up to $2-million after surviving what some locals describe as the worst flooding in more than half a century.

Tenterfield was cut in half yesterday when the creek broke its banks and spilled onto the New England Highway.

Almost 20 roads and highways across the shire are closed due to the flooding or water damage.

Residents have now begun the long and arduous task of cleaning up.
