JURY TRIALS TO RESUME AT NEWCASTLE COURTHOUSE

Jury trials look set to resume at Newcastle Courthouse with a temporary ban expected to be lifted from next month.

It will see trials in the District Court re-commence from the 15th of June, under several new health measures.

Jurors will be empanelled via audio visual link, have their temperatures checked, and practice social distancing.

Jury trials were suspended last month due to COVID-19 restrictions, with only judge-alone trials held.
