TRAFFIC SET TO BE HEAVY AROUND GRIFFITH UNI ON MONDAY

There are concerns traffic around Griffith University will be more chaotic than usual on Monday.

Students starting, and returning for semester one, will have to contend with construction of the light rail and the University Hospital on Parklands Drive.

“There’s going to be a lot of activity there that’s going to restrict traffic. And you’re having, all of a sudden, thousands of extra cars coming into that one little artery of access.”

Griffith is urging students to allow extra time to drive along Smith Street and Olsen Avenue.

“Extra time, car pool if you can, get on the bus if you can – if you’re lucky enough to live within walking distance do that – they’re plenty of parking around the uni at different locations, it might be a 400-metre walk, but that might be a much better option than trying to walk all the way into the campus.”
