A 36-year-old man, who rammed two cars and a police bike, during a high speed New Year’s day chase, was today jailed for six months.
A heavily intoxicated Robert Eldridge drove at speeds up to 140 kilometres an hour along the M1, at times on the wrong side of the road.
Police wanted him for doing burnouts at a nearby shopping centre.
The police chopper directed ground crews to his location at Merrimac, where he eventually dumped the car.
Eldridge claimed he started drinking heavily following his brother’s death in a car accident.
He’ll be released in April.
