Sam Bates and her Sydney Thunder have won the battle of our Hunter cricketers in the Women’s Big Bash League.
Hobart batted first, with Bates taking the vital wicket of Nicola Carey.
Corrine Hall finished on five not out in the Hurricanes total of 148.
In reply, Maisy Gibson removed Rachel Haynes for 4.
Gibson then toppled opener Rachel Priest LBW for 50, but the Thunder passed the Hurricanes total with six wickets to spare.
