THUNDER FALL SHORT IN BIG BASH LEAGUE

It was a party atmosphere at Adelaide Oval in the Big Bash on Monday night, but Sydney Thunder weren’t the ones celebrating. Chasing 175, the Thunder got off to a good start, before Shane Watson fell victim to some spectacular fielding. Newcastle teenager Jason Sangha couldn’t add much – out for two – on what was an emotional night for spinner Rashid Khan. The Thunder eventually fell 20 runs short. (AUDIO IN PARTS)

SANGHA SIGNS THREE YEAR CONTRACT WITH SYDNEY THUNDER

Proving he’s one of the brightest cricket prospects in the country, the Hunter’s Jason Sangha has been signed to a new three-year contract with the Sydney Thunder. The 19-year-old has progressed from being a Community Rookie, to a Foundation Scholarship player, to fully-fledged member of the Big Bash squad. The Thunder starts its campaign against the Melbourne Stars on December 21.

NEW SOUTH WALES IN BOX SEAT IN SHIELD CLASH

Newcastle’s Jason Sangha, has helped New South Wales into a commanding position on day three of the Sheffield Shield clash with Queensland. Blues openers Nick Larkin and Daniel Hughes both scored centuries, before Sangha made it to the crease. Needing quick runs before a declaration, Sangha did away with his usually steady approach, scoring 32 runs off 21 balls. Queensland finished the day a 2 for 51, needing 328 for victory tomorrow. SANGHA LEADS AUSTRALIA INTO U/19 WORLD CUP FINAL

Australia has qualified for the Under 19 World Cup final following a six wicket win over Afghanistan. Chasing 182, Newcastle’s Jason Sangha came in at first drop, with the Aussies at 1 for 26. With opener Jack Edwards anchoring the innings, Sangha eased his way to 26. “That’s well played. Played it late.” When he was caught and bowled, the side was 2 for 103. Australia eventually won with 12 overs to spare. “We’ve been improving every game so going into the final now feeling really confident whether it’s India or Pakistan, all the boys are looking really keen.” The decider will be held on Saturday.

SANGHA EXCITED TO LEAD AUSTRALIA INTO BATTLE

Australia’s under 19 cricket side will try and exact some revenge when it faces the old enemy in the quarter final of the junior World Cup in New Zealand tomorrow. “A big game against England, we’ve been watching the older boys against England. It’s a big step to play a quarter final.” Newcastle’s Jason Sangha says captaining the side will be the biggest honour of his career so far.
