SANGHA LEADS AUSTRALIA INTO U/19 WORLD CUP FINAL

Australia has qualified for the Under 19 World Cup final following a six wicket win over Afghanistan. Chasing 182, Newcastle’s Jason Sangha came in at first drop, with the Aussies at 1 for 26. With opener Jack Edwards anchoring the innings, Sangha eased his way to 26. “That’s well played. Played it late.” When he was caught and bowled, the side was 2 for 103. Australia eventually won with 12 overs to spare. “We’ve been improving every game so going into the final now feeling really confident whether it’s India or Pakistan, all the boys are looking really keen.” The decider will be held on Saturday.

Australia’s under 19 cricket side will try and exact some revenge when it faces the old enemy in the quarter final of the junior World Cup in New Zealand tomorrow. “A big game against England, we’ve been watching the older boys against England. It’s a big step to play a quarter final.” Newcastle’s Jason Sangha says captaining the side will be the biggest honour of his career so far.

SANGHA AND THE AUSSIES GET CUP CAMPAIGN BACK ON TRACK

Cardiff’s Jason Sangha has captained the Australian side to victory over Zimbabwe in its second match at the Under 19 World Cup in New Zealand. Sangha won the toss and elected to bowl, then added to his collection of catches at the tournament, helping the Aussies to dismiss the Africans for just 134 in the 33rd over. In reply, Australia reached the target three wickets down, with 31 overs to spare. Sangha came in at first drop and eventually finished with 30 runs from 47 balls. The Australians will now prepare to play their final group game against Papua New Guinea on Friday.

Australia is midway through its innings, in its opening game of the Under 19 World Cup in New Zealand, with Cardiff’s Jason Sangha captaining the side against India. The skipper took two impressive catches. But the Indians still smashed their way to 7 for 327. Sangha came in at first drop for the Aussies and was looking good early in his innings. But he was out for 14 as he looked to up the run rate.

JASON SANGHA LEADS AUSSIES TO 53 RUN WIN OVER SRI LANKA

Newcastle cricketer Jason Sangha has led the Australian Under-19 side to a 53-run win over Sri Lanka in its opening warm-up match for the World Cup. The Aussies batted first in Christchurch and finished on 7 for 251 from their 50 overs, with Sangha notching 27 runs off 44 balls. Australia will play its final warm-up game against South Africa tomorrow, before beginning its campaign against India on Sunday.
