NO PIPE DREAM FOR COAST CONTINGENT

The Central Coast contingent were all beaten this morning at the legendary Pipe Masters. Adrian Buchan finished second behind Brazilian Italo Ferreira, with his best wave of six point three. In the same heat, Glenn Hall suffered one of the worst wipe outs of the day. Wade Carmichael and Matt Wilkinson both finished third in their respective heats, and will surf in Round Two tomorrow. BUCHAN THE BENCHMARK AT HAWAIIN PRO

Avoca’s Adrian Buchan has advanced to Round Four of the Hawaiin Pro. The Ace was in superb form – scoring two eight point rides to defeat Portugal’s Tiago Peres and Lennox Head surfer Adam Melling. His two wave total of 17 points was the highest so far, in this year’s event. Fellow locals Glenn Hall, Matt Wilkinson and Wade Carmichael will all compete in Round Three tomorrow. ACE BUCHAN THROUGH TO TRESTLES QUARTER-FINALS

Avoca’s Adrian Buchan has continued his run at the Hurley Pro in California, moving into the quarter-finals, after downing Mick Fanning and Nat Young this morning. Buchan recorded a pair of eights to ensure he’ll finish no worse than fifth – a huge boost in his bid for re-qualification on the WSL. “People talk about the ratings all year but I honestly looked at them for the first time about a week ago. To me I know that if I prepare well, I’ve been around long enough to know my surfing will get me there in the end.” He’ll face Fanning again in the quarter-finals. (Photo courtesy of WSL)
