And yet another hero has emerged from Tuesday’s rescue of a Korean rock fisherman at Catherine Hill Bay, south of Newcastle.
Budgewoi’s Mick Bruce was in fact the first person to reach the man, who’d been swept off rocks by a large wave.
Mr Bruce paddled out to the 55 year old and waited with him until lifeguards, including Warren Holden, could retrieve him.
Today Mr Bruce visited the man whose life he helped save.
