REVEALED: WHEN THE FINAL TRAIN WILL LEAVE NEWCASTLE STATION

11:24 on Christmas night – that’s when the LAST ever train will depart Newcastle Station, according to the Transport Minister.

But those opposed to the truncation are mobilising – planning rallies leading up to Boxing Day, AND beyond.

  2. The NSW government is acting against the best interests of the people of Newcastle and the environment in considering the removal of the rail line.
    It is now revealed that Urban Growth, the government body replacing Landcom, has been working for months on plans for development of the rail corridor.
    It defies common sense to remove a working railway which comes into the centre of the city while planning to increase the east end population.
    The Nile inquiry has confirmed all the suspicions of big business manipulation of planning decisions and government corruption.
    How is it that they can be allowed to get away with such a poor decision that our children will still be paying for while developers reap large rewards?
    This decision to cut the rail must be stopped by any means.

  3. The removal of the rail line from Newcastle to Wickham is the best thing to happen in this city! For Two decades this has been proposed by the political parties on both sides and mainly labor not doing anything but let the city decline into ruins. Since the Baird government made the decision to truncate, the city has been reborn with the city begging to revitalise. Great work from the Baird government, The city of Newcastle is behind you. Ignore the noisy minority groups trying to service themselves and not future generations of this great city.
