  1. Less than a minute after turning up with guns already drawn . Unreal great method of communication and dealing with the situation. What happened to tazers and sitting back and talking to the bloke who’s obviously having a break down or some other mental issue
.. well done police just shoot the bloke . What was it the witness heard the police say . ” come on put the knife down come on mate you don’t want us to do this ” ban bang bang . Sounds like a case of preparing meditated mruder . More so when they get out the car with guns drawn .
Pathetic . Display by NSW police .

  2. Glenn that has to be one most stupidest comments I have seen tonight and you can not sit there and say would not of done the same thing. Nsw police do a great job protecting the community.
Sounds to me like you only want to hear and see what you want and have an axe to grind with the police, vision and audio clearly comes through with police telling the man to drop the knife, your comment is uneducated and pathetic

  3. Well there Local; it sounds like you are quick to point the bone.
Personally; I think the Police could at lease just go for the torso
or legs! & symply ‘drop him’ The guys needed to talk ; not br shop!

  4. Surely the police had other options than to gun the man down. There are several examples / videos of UK police handing people with knives without blowing them away… Watch those videos & learn, NSW police! Cops shooting someone to kill should be the last resort when the cops’ life is actually in danger. I doubt this guy was a skilled knife assassin. Until then, why not just evade the attack, or keep your distance, negotiating with the guy verbally while planning some other non-terminal means of subduing him??

  5. They are TRAINED to shoot for the largest body mass ( Chest / heart area ) if they feel AT ALL THREATENED !
They are TRAINED not to go for legs or arms but to SHOOT TO KILL !
    Capsicum spray ??
    More fun using a gun.
Since the Wood Royal Commission and fool Englishman Peter Ryan’s appointment to Commissioner of NSW Police in the mid 1990`s our NSW police force has gone to hell .
Peter Ryan was the one who DROPPED the standards for entry into NSW Police which allowed anybody & everybody to enlist that PRE Peter Ryans days would NEVER EVER had even got a look into the NSW Police force.
Basically if you can hold a gun talk without swallowing your tongue and have never been charged ( Caught ) … Your NSW police material… Even if your 3ft nothing and thick as a brick you can get into NSW police.
No wounder most of the public do not trust or LIKE police.

  6. Local – your comment is uneducated and pathetic !
Glen`s comment was right and to the point and EXACTLY what I have heard from EVERYBODY I have spoken to tonight.
Your WRONG ` Local ` and obviously you are a Police bum kisser and either a officer your self or closely connected to police.
More of the community agree with Glen then they do with you.
    Again…
your comment is uneducated and pathetic !

  7. Such a sad day for this mans family, my heart goes out to you , and this man must have been battling demons & was crying out for help to be killed in cold blood. What bappened to Police Negotiators ? Doesn’t this option exist anymore ? What about Tazors or worse case shoot him in the leg as a last resort not Run in & Shoot first then Ask Questions when it’s too late RIP

  8. There are plenty of examples / videos of UK police dealing with people with knives without gunning them down. Watch the videos & learn, NSW police! Shooting to kill should be the cops’ last resort when their life is ACTUALLY in danger. I doubt this guy was a skilled knife assassin. Just evade the attack and keep your distance while trying to calm him down & implement a non-terminal method of subduing him (capsicum spray, taser, baton, your jacket – almost anything would have worked in the hands of law enforcement vs. troubled man). He shouldn’t have been blown away – I hope this gets used as an example of very poor decision making / excessive force.

  9. It sounds like you people have never been in this sort of situation, I can’t believe the stupid comments that I am reading. 1 The detectives got out of their car with guns drawn, probably due to the fact that they were told by Police Radio that someone was being threatened by a man with a gun. 2 Plain clothes police don’t carry tazers and such due to the fact that they are supposed to blend in with the people around them, otherwise they would have a sign on them saying “Bad guys beware I’m a Cop!” 3 As far as going for a leg shot or some other small part of the body, where there is a strong risk of missing and the bullet hitting an innocent person, their training is to aim for the largest body mass. 4 I would like to see any of the people who have left comments handle this situation in a different way, when their own safety and that of their partner and the general public is at risk. AND before any of you comment, yes I am in support of the Police, being a former Policeman myself and having seen similar situations. I commend these two young Policemen for doing what they did in a difficult situation and having to make a split second decision. People should not comment on something without knowing what the full story is.

  10. The police that were there weren’t called for this incident and weren’t armed with tazers or spray! When something like this happens so quickly andthe man cconcerned was firstly threatening staff and customers inside the post office they are trained to deal with these situations! How clever are we when we have never had to deal with this! I have been held up in my shop! I have nothing but praise for everyone involved and compassion for this man & his family ans the police involved!
