THREE PEOPLE CHARGED IN POLICE OPERATION AT CESSNOCK JAIL

Three people have been charged during a police operation at Cessnock Correctional Complex.

On Saturday 27th October, police assisted corrections officers in the screening of visitors to the facility.

One person was charged with driving while suspended.

Another was allegedly caught with two grams of methamphetamine in his possession, while a third was arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle tobacco into the jail.

Police also found and seized a small quantity of cannabis from a vehicle, however no charges were laid, due to insufficient evidence of possession.

Further operations are expected.
