A 28-year-old man has been charged with 45 offences, after being apprehended in Belmont North on Wednesday.
Police spotted a vehicle of interest in Buttaba Avenue, where as they approached, the Toyota Rav4 sped away and allegedly hit a police vehicle and another parked car.
The vehicle was located a short time later in nearby Golding Avenue, where a search was commenced and the man was arrested.
He has been charged with a range of offences including resist police, break, enter and steal, drug offences, and other traffic offences.
He was refused bail and will face Newcastle Local Court today.
