POSITIVE SIGNS FOR NEW TRACK
60 identities from all facets of the sport have been nominated for Newcastle and Hunter Racing’s Hall of Fame, with inductees to be honoured at a gala dinner next month.
Meanwhile, the first official race on Broadmeadow’s new course proper took place this afternoon.
Destination Tuscon, trained by Chris Waller and ridden by Brenton Avdulla was first past the post.
Four races were held on the track today.
Newcastle Jockey Club chairman, Geoff Barnett was glowing in his praise for the new surface.
