IMMEDIATE HELP NOW AVAILABLE FOLLOWING FLOOD EMERGENCY
Immediate help is now available for people affected by last week’s flood emergency, as part of a financial assistance package announced by the New South Wales Government today.
The funds will enable individuals and families to purchase food, clothing and emergency accommodation.
Minister for Justice Michael Keenan says the funding is thanks to a coordinated effort from the state and federal governments.
“Today’s announcement demonstrates the commitment of the Australian and New South Wales Governments to work together to help flood-affected communities get back on their feet,” Mr Keenan said.
The funds will provide immediate assistance to the affected local government areas of Dungog, Eurobodalla, Great Lakes, Maitland, Newcastle and Port Stephens.
Other assistance measures include help for local councils to clean up and restore damaged infrastructure, freight subsidies for primary producers and concessional interest rate loans for small businesses, primary producers and not-for-profit organisations.
