GREENS PLAN FOR A RENEWABLE NORTH COAST
The Greens have unveiled a plan to make electricity supply on the North Coast 100 per cent renewable in just 15 years.
Candidate for Page, Desley Banks says if the party is elected at the upcoming federal election, it will focus on developing a sustainable industry in the region.
“We need to be able to create jobs in this area, we are very low on the job front, we have high unemployment rates.”
“It can be done 100 per cent renewable is a realistic objective, there’s plenty of sunshine up here there’s plenty of crop wastage that can be used.”
The Greens are encouraging the community to put pressure on both the federal and state governments to move away from coal and gas.
