ALLAN ROBINSON TO SPEAK TO RACING NSW STEWARDS

Retired jockey Allan Robinson will speak to Racing NSW stewards about his involvement in one of Australian racing’s biggest feuds.

Robinson has been revealed as the ‘ex-jockey’ who told John Singleton the owner’s champion racemare More Joyous couldn’t win the All Aged Stakes at Randwick.

In reports on Wednesday, Robinson claimed bookmaker, Tom Waterhouse, had told a friend of his that the prolific Group One winner was “off” in a race subsequently won by glamour colt All Too Hard.

Singleton’s More Joyous ran one of the worst races of her career, beating one horse home in the weight-for-age feature.

The defeat sparked a row between Singleton and his long-time trainer Gai Waterhouse, with stewards opening – and then adjourning – an inquiry after the race.

Robinson, who retired from riding after a 2010 race fall, said he had known Singleton since he was an apprentice and he still spoke to him on a regular basis.

He claimed it was not Johns who had told him about More Joyous’ condition.
